Evaluations

At Dudley-Charlton Regional School District, educator evaluation is built on a foundation of trust, shared growth, and a genuine commitment to improving outcomes for every student across our seven schools. We approach evaluation not as a compliance requirement, but as a meaningful professional process — one that supports educators at every stage of their career in deepening their practice, refining their goals, and contributing to our district's continuous improvement.

Our evaluation system is grounded in the Massachusetts Educator Evaluation Framework under 603 CMR 35.00, the comprehensive regulation designed by DESE to support effective implementation of educator evaluation across the Commonwealth.

Depending on your role, your evaluation is guided by one of these DESE model rubrics:

1. The Classroom Teacher Rubric, which focuses on the four Standards of Effective Teaching Practice.
2. The Specialized Instructional Support Personnel (SISP) Rubric, which describes practice common across educators in professional support roles such as school counselors, school psychologists, and school nurses, and is designed for educators who provide direct services to a caseload of students as well as those who support students through consultation and collaboration with teachers and administrators.
3. The School-Level Administrator Rubric, which addresses four Standards for administrators: Instructional Leadership; Management and Operations; Family and Community Engagement; and Professional Culture.
4. The Paraprofessional Rubric, which focuses on providing students with disabilities support throughout the day. 

These rubrics are designed to help educators and evaluators develop a consistent, shared understanding of what proficient performance looks like in practice, build a common terminology for organizing evidence, and make informed professional judgments about formative and summative performance ratings.

To manage this work efficiently and transparently, DCRSD uses Vector's TeachPoint platform, an online educator management system used by thousands of schools across the U.S. for performing classroom observations, managing professional development activities, and implementing educator and staff evaluation systems. Within TeachPoint, you can upload and tag evidence directly to rubric standards, track your Educator Plan milestones, access observation feedback, and stay on top of key deadlines — all in one place.
